Once Upon a Time in Kolkata: Suman’s Love Story

Image
Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Kolkata , there was a young boy named Suman. Suman was unlike most others his age; quiet and introspective, he often found himself lost in his own world. At 19, he was an introvert, one who preferred the company of a good story over loud gatherings. His love for romance came from his constant companion—the radio, which would fill his ears with the stories of love and longing. Every night, he would fall asleep listening to tales that tugged at his heart, whispering of connections and companionship. Suman had a dream. He aspired to one day work for a big company, learn everything he could, and eventually start his own business. But there was another dream tucked away in the corners of his heart—he dreamed of finding a soulmate, someone with whom he could travel the world and share endless conversations and laughter. As he turned 19, Suman couldn’t help but feel a little wistful. Despite his dreams and desires, he was still single. He couldn’t q

A Love Story by the Lake of Suman Mampi

Once upon a time, in a little town surrounded by green hills and sparkling lakes, there lived two wonderful people named Suman and Mampi. They had just gotten married, and their hearts were full of love and excitement! They were ready to explore the world together, hand in hand, with big dreams in their eyes.

One sunny morning, Suman woke up with a big smile on his face. “Mampi! Let’s go on an adventure today!” he exclaimed, his eyes twinkling like stars. Mampi, with her long hair flowing like a river, giggled and clapped her hands. “Yes! Where should we go?”

After some thought, Suman said, “How about we visit that beautiful temple by the lake name is Paglakhali? I heard it’s magical!”

Mampi’s face lit up with joy. “Oh, yes! I’ve always wanted to see the temple there! And we can take a boat ride!” They quickly got ready, packing a picnic basket filled with their favorite snacks—samosas, sweet pastries, and cool lemonade.

As they rode their bikes to the lake, the wind danced around them, carrying the sweet scent of flowers. Suman and Mampi laughed and sang, their hearts as light as the fluffy clouds above. When they arrived, the lake sparkled like a thousand diamonds under the sun, and the temple stood majestically on the shore, surrounded by trees that whispered secrets in the breeze.

They parked their bikes and made their way to the temple, hand in hand. The temple was beautiful, adorned with colorful flowers and vibrant decorations. They stepped inside, feeling a sense of peace wash over them. They lit candles, made wishes, and shared their dreams for the future.

After their visit, Suman said, “Now, let’s go for that boat ride!” Mampi jumped with joy. “Yes, let’s do it!”

They approached the dock where a friendly boat driver greeted them. “Welcome! Are you ready for some fun on the water?” he asked, his smile wide and warm. Suman and Mampi nodded eagerly, their hearts racing with excitement.

As they climbed into the boat, Mampi felt a flutter in her stomach. The driver pushed them off the shore, and soon, they were gliding over the calm water. The sun kissed their faces, and the sound of gentle waves filled their ears.

“This is amazing!” Mampi exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with delight. Suman smiled back at her, feeling lucky to share this moment with his beloved.

They took turns casting their fishing lines into the water, hoping to catch a big fish. Suman joked, “If I catch a fish, I’ll cook it for dinner!” Mampi laughed, “Only if you promise to make it delicious!”

As they enjoyed their time on the lake, they felt the boat sway gently. At times, it rocked a little too much, and Mampi held onto Suman tightly. “What if we tip over?” she asked, her voice a mix of excitement and nervousness.

“Don’t worry! The driver is here, and he knows what he’s doing,” Suman reassured her, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. The boat driver chimed in, “Just relax! I’ve got you!”

They spent hours laughing, talking, and soaking up the sun. Mampi loved watching the little fish swim around, and Suman was captivated by the way the light danced on the water’s surface.

As the sun began to lower in the sky, painting the horizon with hues of orange and pink, they decided to head back. The driver skillfully guided the boat toward the shore, and Mampi felt a mix of happiness and sadness—happy for the wonderful day, but sad it was coming to an end.

Once they reached the shore, they hopped off the boat and stood in the warm glow of the setting sun. “What a perfect day!” Mampi said, her heart full of joy.

Suman nodded, “Let’s take a break in the shade before we head home.” They found a big tree with a broad trunk and plenty of leaves that danced gently in the breeze. They leaned their bikes against it and sat down, resting their backs against the sturdy bark.

Mampi took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh air. “I love days like this,” she said, smiling at Suman. “It feels like we’re living in a dream.”

As they sat there, sharing stories and laughter, a dark cloud began to form above them. The sun was still shining, but a feeling of unease crept into Mampi’s heart. “Do you think things will always be this perfect?” she asked, looking up at Suman.

Suman thought for a moment. “I hope so. But I know life can be tricky sometimes,” he replied softly, placing his hand on hers. They both felt a shiver of uncertainty, but they brushed it aside, choosing to focus on the joy of the moment.

As they prepared to leave, Mampi glanced at the lake one last time. “I’ll never forget today,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. Suman nodded, knowing this day would be a cherished memory forever.

But as the days turned into weeks and weeks into months, life began to change. Despite their love for each other, Suman and Mampi faced challenges they hadn’t expected. Sometimes, it felt like the waves of the lake were crashing against their hearts, pulling them in different directions.

Arguments crept in like unwelcome guests, and misunderstandings became more frequent. The joyful laughter that once filled their home began to fade, replaced by silence and sadness. They tried to fix things, to find their way back to the happiness they had shared, but it felt like they were lost in a thick fog.

One hot summer day, as they stood by their bikes under the same tree where they had rested after their boat ride, Mampi felt a heavy weight in her heart. The shade they once loved now felt stifling. “Suman, do you remember that day by the lake?” she asked, her voice trembling.

He nodded, a distant look in his eyes. “How could I forget?”

Tears welled up in Mampi’s eyes. “I wish we could go back to that day… but things have changed.” Suman looked away, feeling the sting of reality. They both knew that despite the love they had for each other, they were drifting apart like two boats sailing in different directions.

With a deep breath, Mampi whispered, “Maybe it’s time we let go.” Suman’s heart sank, but he knew she was right. Sometimes, love wasn’t enough to keep two people together when their paths no longer aligned.

As they stood there, the sun beating down on them, they made the painful decision to part ways. They promised to cherish the memories they had created, like the beautiful day at the lake. With heavy hearts, they hugged one last time, feeling the warmth of their love and the sadness of their goodbye.

As Mampi rode away, she glanced back one last time, her heart aching but also filled with hope. She knew that just like the seasons change, life moves forward, and new beginnings were waiting ahead.

Suman watched her leave, feeling a mix of emotions—gratitude for the love they had shared and sorrow for what could have been. He turned back to the lake, remembering the sun-drenched day filled with laughter and dreams.

Though they were no longer together, the memories of their time by the lake would always hold a special place in their hearts. Just like the gentle waves that lapped against the shore, their love would remain a cherished part of their stories, reminding them of the beautiful journey they once shared.

And so, Suman and Mampi continued their lives, carrying with them the lessons learned and the love they once had, forever grateful for the adventure they experienced together, even if it was only for a little while.
